It’s that time of year again. Yes, fall – otherwise known as Pumpkin Spice Season.
As soon as the calendar turns to September, you can barely make it down the aisle of the grocery store without encountering Pumpkin Spice something. There are Pumpkin Spice cereals, tea, yogurt, pretzels, ice cream, cookies, even air sprays and cough drops!
Origins of the Craze
Some trace this fall food craving back to 2003. That’s when Starbucks first offered its Pumpkin Spice Latte. Since the drink was a limited-time seasonal offering, people got excited about it and looked forward to its return each fall. Before long, the Pumpkin Spice flavor and scent spread into other products. Each year it seems to grow more popular.
In fact, CNN reported that there’s actually some science behind this craze. According to the article, the “sweet smell and tantalizing taste of pumpkin spice can trigger a nostalgic emotional response” in a person’s brain.
It quotes a food scientist who says:
“In the Western world, the aroma of pumpkin spice immediately transports people to all the warm and friendly times associated with pumpkin pie, holiday gatherings, families, celebrations, treats, sweets… things that childhood memories are made of.”
We agree wholeheartedly!
There is definitely something special about the experience of sharing a pie. We hear from our fans time and time again about fond memories of family and friends gathering to enjoy a Tippin’s pie together. We take great pride in being able to help people create those experiences and memories.
And let’s be honest… the original is the best.
Our Tippin’s Pumpkin Pie has its own special blend of spices combined with real pumpkin that is aged for two years to intensify the pumpkin flavor. Our bakers fill the pies with the crusts already in the oven to create the perfect pumpkin pie.
We hope your fall is filled with the tastes and smells of pumpkin spice – in its purest, original Tippin’s form. And we hope that the memories you create over our pies stay with you long past the season.
We’d love to hear your stories, so share them with us!
